NSSI should become a complete diagnosis because diagnoses lead to comprehensive treatment and understanding of th e illness, better insurance coverage for those with the illness, and social enlightenment about the illness. Distinct diagnosis for NSSI would lead to more comprehensive treatment and understanding of the mental illness. The social norm I violated was the courtesy norm. The value of courtesy is having good manners towards other people. We build our reputation by being a respectable and thoughtful person. Being courteous is important; we don’t want to be surrounded with rude and impolite people. We want people to follow the norms at all times, in this case, the courtesy norm and also, to be considerate. The courtesy norm acts as a mechanism of social control by creating a social conduct, we need norms in order to know what is wrong and what is right. If we didn’t have this norm no one will have respect towards others. Courtesy is part of what we are; it is a norm that defines how we behave. In the field of education, TLM is a commonly used acronym that stands for teaching/learning materials. Broadly, the term refers to a spectrum of educational materials that teachers use in the classroom to support specific learning objectives, as set out in lesson plans.
